| Very large blocks are then cut into smaller slabs suitable for cutting into specific sized and shaped curbing for inventory or immediate shipment to project sites. |
Large cranes are used to place the slabs onto roller beds leading into hydraulic splitters that snap off curbing to the desired thickness and configuration, straight or curved. |
Straight-line equipment (below) split vertical curbing 4 inches and wider, in depths from 4 to 24 inches and lengths up to 10 feet. |
| Specialized equipment (right) is used to split vertical granite curbing to specific project requirements, from one-foot radius to 125-foot radius curves. |
After straight and curved cuts are completed, each curb piece is inspected, and as needed, hand ground and chipped to create an even appearance. Next, each end of both straight and curved curb pieces are trimmed simultaneously to provide well-matched end joints. |
