    FROM OUR QUARRIES WILLIAMS STONE GRANITE COLORS: Clean Back Protrusions greater than 1/4-inch are removed using hand tools to create a tighter tolerance for when pavers are abutted to curb. Rock Face Hand chiseled to create a relief finish (landscape curb only). Sawn Back Provides the tightest tolerance for when pavers are abutted to curb. Sawn Face The face of the curb has a smooth finish created by saw cutting. Sawn Top Most common; Slabs for curb are typically sawn top and bottom; the top of the curb has a smooth finish created by saw cutting. Split Face A natural cleft face; Created when the slab is split on a guillotine. Thermal Top Fine stipple finish for aesthetic look or traction in pedestrian areas. Slab is processed through a thermaling machine, then split or sawn into curb.

    PROJECT PORTFOLIO < Back INTERSTATE 91 BRIDGE UNDERPASS Greenfield, MA 50 Years Later, Heavy Duty Granite Paving Blocks Still Performing on Bridge Underpasses When Interstate-91 in Western Massachusetts was constructed fifty years ago, Williams Stone heavy-duty granite paving blocks were installed under all of the bridge overpasses to provide soil retention and erosion control. Up and down the length of this busy highway, they continue to perform well and look good. Below are a few examples from the Greenfield, MA roundabout at the intersection of I-91 and Route 2.
